Audiences
Define who you're writing for so content speaks directly to their needs instead of reading like it's for everyone.
Audiences are profiles of the specific groups of people you want your content to reach. Content written for "everyone" tends to resonate with no one — Audiences help Amplefound write for a real, specific reader instead.
What an Audience profile includes
An Audience typically covers:
- Demographics — age range, location, and other relevant characteristics
- Pain points — the real challenges and frustrations this group faces
- Interests and preferences — what they care about and how they like to consume information
- Goals — what they're trying to accomplish
Why this matters
Content that speaks to a specific audience's actual problems and language performs better — it feels relevant rather than generic, which matters both to human readers and, increasingly, to how AI assistants judge whether content is a genuinely useful answer to a question.
Building your Audiences
If you ran a Website Scan, an initial Audience is usually created automatically based on who your existing content and messaging seem to address. Go to Audiences to review and refine it, or create additional profiles for different segments you serve.
When to create more than one
If your business genuinely serves distinct groups with different needs — beginners versus experienced users, different industries, different geographic markets — separate Audience profiles let you write content that speaks precisely to each one, rather than settling for a blended, less specific description that fits nobody perfectly.
Using Audiences in Articles
When creating an Article, select the Audience it's meant for. This shapes the complexity of the language, which examples get used, and which pain points the piece leans on — a piece for "enterprise IT decision-makers" should read very differently from one for "small business owners doing their own bookkeeping," even if both are nominally about the same product.
A concrete example
A B2B software company selling to both small startups and large enterprises might define two Audiences: "resource-constrained startup founders" (who care about quick setup and low cost) and "enterprise IT buyers" (who care about security, integrations, and support). The same product feature, written for each audience, would emphasize completely different benefits — and Amplefound handles that distinction automatically once the right Audience is selected.
